Crossover

About Crossover

Offering hope to the disadvantaged of our city, Crossover focuses on reaching out. Particularly those sleeping rough, inadequately housed or suffering addiction issues through feeding and work programmes. During 2010 exciting developments occurred. With the reopening of St. Peter’s Church, Crossover was able to discuss relocating its feeding programme from the streets and into their Church Hall.

Safehaven was birthed in early 2010. The project, consisting of St Peter’s Church, One Church (formally Glouster Road Baptist churches) and Crossover (representing Our City) started a team effort to make a difference in Brighton. Guests are invited to a high quality “restaurant” style meal most Saturday nights from 6pm-7pm. The tables are laid with cloths and decorated with flowers. Rather than stand in a queue, waiters and waitresses serve the meals and each table has a befriender which act as a listening ear and offer help where possible. On average 60-80 meals are provided plus seconds and take-away’s!

Many volunteers are University students and so Safehaven runs during school terms, however, the homeless are on our streets all year-round. On the occasions out of term-time, Crossover calls upon its many years of experience and returns to the feeding on the street as before.

Safehaven pauses over the school/university holidays but recommences in term time. To volunteer for either of these projects, email crossover@thisisourcity.co.uk or use the contact form on the contact page.
